Father Hunger: Why God Calls Men to Love and Lead Their Families It has taken a while to get through this book. I initially chose this book because I have two step sons and two young daughters. Having a blended family is challenging and I know I need to be a better father; especially to the boys since they rarely see their natural fathers. The biggest challenge for me in getting through this book is due to changes in my work schedule and life in general.

The fact that my work schedule is interfering with raising children is a testament to the fact that fathers are absent  in their children’s lives.

The Love & Respect Experience: A Husband-Friendly Devotional that Wives Truly Love by Dr. Emerson Eggerichs is a devotional that husbands and wives can go through together to become closer to God and each other.

This devotional book is an addition to his other works on the Love and Respect approach to marriage. In the beginning of this devotional Dr. Emerson Eggerichs explains the 80/20 rule where he believes that 80% of the time marriage is good, but most of the time couples focus on the 20%.

The Voice New Testament: Revised & Updatedis an easy to read translation of the bible that reads like a story. The idea behind the translation is to create a fluid flow in the reading while keeping true to the original manuscript.

With this Bible I can see that I will most likely read for longer periods than I may with other translations.

The 360 Degree Leader: Developing Your Influence from Anywhere in the Organization by John Maxwell is a leadership book written for the manager in the middle of an organization. In the same style as the rest of his books John Maxwell describes what a leader looks like and how the act within their role.

The 360° Leader must have influence not only for those he leads but for those in the ranks above him and his peers. Maxwell explains how anyone can develop skills to lead those around them.

The Final Summit by Andy Andrews is about a man who must save mankind before time runs out. With an Angel as his guide, David Ponder has five chances to come up with the right answer as to what mankind must do to save themselves. Andy Andrews pulls facts from history and weaves them into a suspenseful tail to tell the story of what must be done to save mankind.

Doing Virtuous Business: The Remarkable Success of Spiritual Enterprise by Theodore Roosevelt Malloch is a book on how businesses can be more successful and profitable that they would have otherwise been by following a few basic principals on running a virtuous business.

I have to admit that I found this book hard to get into. Partly because life happened with the growth of our family by the birth of my beautiful daughter. But that isn’t what this review is about. Another reason I found it hard to get into is because I am not currently in a position where I directly run or control a business.

The reason I chose this book is because I am interested in starting a business and thought that the book would provide guidelines  to do so.
